Tuesday, September 9, 7 pm: From Fork to Forest--
Why we can't solve the
climate crisis without changing how we eat
with Nicola Philpott and Anna Larsson
Even if we stopped using fossil fuels today, emissions from our food system would still cause the earth to exceed targets. This lively presentation discusses the under-appreciated impact our food system has on climate and the environment. Learn actions you can take at your very next meal to start changing things for the better.
This meeting will be Hybrid (Online and In Person): Link will
be provided shortly before the September meeting
Nicola Philpott runs a plant-based meal program at a shelter for people
experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis. She has a doctorate in biochemistry
and molecular biology and has written 18 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Nicola enjoys gardening, biking with her teenagers and walking her dogs. She’s
enthusiastic about empowering people to take climate action through plant-based
eating.
Anna Larsson spends her days working on strategy and finance in the corporate
world, analyzing data and creating simple stories from complex information. By
night, she is a long-time climate and environmental activist. She lives with
her partner and two teenagers in Minneapolis and loves biking and getting out
in nature.
Tuesday, October 14, 7 pm: "HerpMapper
Master" Christopher Smith...
will
share with us his knowledge of Minnesota's reptiles and amphibians and explain
how you can share your observations on HerpMapper (and earn
volunteer hours as you do so!). Details to come in the future
newsletters.
